Hi, I’m Victoria Nagel (she/her). I work with individuals, couples, and families who are ready for change but may feel stuck, overwhelmed, or unsure where to begin. My style is warm, direct, and collaborative. I focus on helping people move forward without shame, pressure, or judgment.

My work is grounded in Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Motivational Interviewing (MI), helping clients understand patterns that keep them stuck while supporting change at a pace that feels respectful and empowering. I also integrate Internal Family Systems (IFS), solution-focused strategies, and mindfulness-based approaches to support insight, emotional regulation, and practical problem-solving.

I bring over a decade of experience supporting individuals with mental health concerns, substance use, and addiction recovery. I also work with couples and families impacted by a loved one’s substance use. As a therapist trained in Community Reinforcement and Family Training (CRAFT), I help families focus on their own well-being, improve communication, and support positive change, without blame or control.

In sessions, you can expect to be met where you are. Therapy may involve processing intense emotions, unpacking complex relationships, or using the space as a “verbal rage room” when life feels like too much. I believe therapy should feel supportive, authentic, human, and sometimes a little lighthearted with humor.

In addition to my clinical work, I oversee a clinical training and workforce development program at a New Jersey based public health agency and hold a PhD in Counselor Education and Supervision. I bring extensive experience in clinical supervision and training, which informs my commitment to ethical, thoughtful, and effective care.

Whether you’re seeking individual counseling, family support, or professional consultation, I would be honored to work with you.

I’m a Good Fit If You’re…

  • Looking for therapy that is supportive, collaborative, and change-oriented

  • Navigating the impact of a loved one’s substance use and want support that focuses on your well-being

I May Not Be the Best Fit If You’re…

  • You’re looking for therapy that is purely directive or advice-giving, rather than collaborative

  • You want to stay focused only on venting without interest in exploring patterns or working toward change

  • You’re not open (at least eventually) to gentle reflection, curiosity, or being thoughtfully challenged

  • You’re not ready to focus on your own well-being when navigating a loved one’s substance use
